How I met Shiloh

Everyday, when I used to walk from work to home, I couldn’t resist stopping by a pet store close by. Back in my country, I had always owned a dog, and I missed not having one. At that time, I was living in a tiny apartment, and I could only afford to have a gold fish.

Right after I got married, I considered adopting a pet, but I knew if I went to a dog shelter it’d be so hard for me to pick just one.

One day, when I was walking home, I decided to do my usual visit to the pet store. As soon as I walked in, there was a guy holding the cutest little puppy asking for his money back; because, his girlfriend couldn’t take care of it. The seller told him that there was no refund. The guy was furious, and told him that if he doesn’t take the puppy, he will have to bring it to a shelter. I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Immediately, I told the guy that I could take care of it. Suddenly, “the guy looked at me, gave me the puppy, and left!” I was astonished, but so happy to hold that cute little ball of hair.

Long history short, that is how I met Shiloh. It was unexpectedly crazy, but I feel as good as I had rescued him. I have to say that it has been a lot of responsibility; we had to move to a bigger apartment, and most decisions are based on his wellness. Shiloh has brought lots of love to my husband and I. We are so lucky to have him, and we can’t imagine our life without him, our furry best friend…

Todos los días que caminaba del trabajo a la casa, no podia resistirme a pasar por una tienda de mascotas cercana a mi apartamento. Siempre había tenido una mascota cuando vivía en mi país, y extrañaba mucho tener un perro en casa. En esa época, vivía en un pequeño apartamento, y solo podía cuidar de un pez.

Justo después que me casé, pensamos en adoptar una mascota, pero sabía que si iba a un refugio, sería tan difícil para mí escoger sólo uno de tantos.

Un día, cuando estaba caminando a casa, hice mi visita habitual a la tienda de mascotas. Tan pronto como entré, estaba un chico pidiendo su dinero de vuelta porque su novia no podía cuidar del cachorro. El vendedor le dijo que no había ningún reembolso. El chico se puso furioso y le dijo que si él no lo recibía el tendría que llevarlo a un refugio. Yo no podía creer lo que estaba escuchando. Inmediatamente, le dije al chico que podía hacerme cargo del cachorro. Entonces, “el chico me miró, me dio el cachorro, y se fue!” Yo me quedé asombrada, pero feliz de cargar a esa pequeña bola de pelos.

Resumiendo la historia, conocer a Shiloh fué algo inesperado, pero se siente tan bien como haberlo rescatado. Tengo que decir que desde que lo tenemos ha sido una gran responsabilidad; nos tuvimos que mudar a un apartamento más grande, y la mayoría de las decisiones se basan en su bienestar. Shiloh ha traído mucho amor a nuestro hogar. Tenemos mucha suerte de tenerlo con nosotros, y no podemos imaginar la vida sin él, nuestro mejor amigo …
