Back when I lived in my hometown Bolivia, I used to drive to go to college. At a young age, my car was one of the most valuable items I possessed that made my life much easier and independent.  Then when I moved to New York, it was challenging for me to learn the new rules, roads, and signs; Not to mention that I failed my first driving test! (ha,ha!) However, It was not a big priority to have a car in the big city, and I really loved the idea of taking public transportation or long walks everywhere, and indeed the most convenient option. Few years back when I moved to New Jersey I realized the essential to have a vehicle. Even though, we have an 10 minute commute to NYC, having a car is a necessity to perform my husband’s and I daily activities, for instances; go to work, grocery shopping, doctor’s appointments, go to the movies, etc. It makes me feel very independent, and it is very comfortable for us without mentioning that we enjoy having road trips more often!

I have to confess that in my Latina culture the man is in charge of the maintenance of the car. Not having a car for years made me forget about the essential of providing a good care of the most valuable item at my household. Sharing this is a little personal and embarrassing now that I live in the U.S., but I had no clue about the importance of having my car oil changed until this day. As my first experience I learn so much about my car’s maintenance as the Walmart Service Center workers educated me about the importance of feeding my car with a high quality Quaker State Oil as one of the first steps to ensure my car lasts as long as possible. I had no idea about the different types of oils, the funny part is that now I understand my husband when I ask him for an opinion about a beauty product (ha,ha!).

We can’t imagine our life without a car, so preventing and giving our vehicle a proper care is necessary to avoid any inconvenience, especially with severe weather circumstances at the East Coast that can be very dangerous to our family safety. For this reason, having a reliable service is the key to ensure my car never lets my family and I down.

The best part about Walmart Service Center is that you can have your oil changed for only $19.88 (At selected stores) while running errands! Isn’t it amazing to have it all in one place? While having my oil changed I took some time to look at the beauty section and buy some groceries for the week. Now, I have the peace of mind I need to drive with my family anywhere without worries.

How about you? Tell me who is in charge of the maintenance of your car?
¿Y vos?
