Chia Seed Jam

Chia seeds are very versatile when it comes to use in food, as can add to smoothies, soups, salads, etc., and to prepare a jam that completely changes the consistency of the traditional jam, plus it is made with organic ingredients and it has a delicious taste.

Chia is a Mayan word meaning strength, and it is considered a super food. First, Chia seeds are rich in calcium and contain more calcium per gram than milk. Second, due to its neutral taste, they are easy to consume, and finally it provides a great source of fiber, protein, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of strawberries (organic).
  • 1 pound of blackberries (organic).
  • 1/2 cup coconut palm sugar (organic).
  • 1/2 cup chia seeds (organic).
  • Water as needed.

Preparation:

In a saucepan over low heat fruit with a little water.  Then wait while moving the mixture until it begins to boil, add the sugar and add more water if necessary.  Let it boil until thick consistency.  When ready, remove from heat and let cool.  Add chia seeds and mix well.  Let stand about 10 minutes and ready.
